About Us

Established in 1953, Sportsman's has been a Mt. Sterling staple for generations. That's why we call it "Your hometown bar for over 60 years!" Although Sportsman's has changed hands a few times since first opening the doors at 111 N. Capitol, we've always worked to bring you good times at great prices.

We are more than just a corner bar though -- Sportsman's is involved with local charities and community organizations too! We work with Action Brown County to help produce some of their annual events, including the Fall Festival Block Party. At the 2015 Testicle Festival, we partnered with the Brown County Music Boosters to raise $1,000 for the purchase of music equipment for Brown County High School's music program. At the 2016 TF, we partnered with Pathfinders A..B.A.T.E. to raise money by hosting a Bike Show and Fun Run. We also offer our services for various private functions and fund-raisers throughout the year.

In 2019 we launched an outdoor venue adjacent to the bar called the Hop Garden. This space includes a covered stage, a beer & frozen drink bar, recreation areas, spacious seating, and more. The Hop Garden is open seasonally from May thru October.
